SPRING 2017 Induction Ceremony

On April 12th , 2017,  the Florida Tech chapter of Phi Kappa Phi celebrated over 200 new members to our honor society at the annual induction ceremony. This was held at the Gleason Auditorium on the Florida Tech campus.

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only to Florida Tech’s top 7.5 percent of second term juniors and the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students.

The event, presided over by our chapter president, Dr. George Maul, was attended by dignitaries from many different colleges of our university: Dr. Pierre Larochelle, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering; Dr. Mary Beth Kenkel, Dean of the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts; Dr. Theodore Richardson, Dean of the Nathan M. Bisk School of Business; Dr. Hamid Rassoul, Dean of the College of Science; Dr. Holly Miller, Acting Dean of Libraries; Dr. Marco Carvalho, our new Dean of the School of Computing; Dr. Robert Taylor, Head of the School of Arts and Communication, and Mr. Wes Sumner, Vice President for Marketing and Communications. Also in attendance was our student representative, Luisa Gomes.

Dr. Monica Baloga, Florida Tech’s provost and chief academic officer, welcomed our new inductees signaling how proud the university is to have such impressive students. Ms. Leslie Savoie, Dr. John Trefry, Dr. William Girton, Mr. Jared Campbell, and Dr. Cecelia Knoll, also offered great speeches and words of encouragement to our new inductees.

Dr. Knoll proudly congratulated Montana Steell, the 2017 Florida Tech Chapter Scholar’s award which she so impressively deserved.

After the ceremony concluded, all of the new and current members of Phi Kappa Phi enjoyed a reception which featured delicious refreshments.
